DJ Tocom Rubber Settles Lower; Stockpiles Weigh -- Market Talk

  Tocom rubber settles slightly lower as investors mull high stockpiles. Large and rising global rubber stocks, however, may continue to be the key negative factor weighing on prices, London-based consultancy The Rubber Economist says in its latest report for the first quarter of the year. It is forecasting a surplus of 652,000 tons in 2014, as recent Thai government rubber policies supporting prices have encouraged production. Benchmark August Tocom rubber settles Y0.5 lower at Y234.7/kg, off the intraday low of Y234.5/kg. (huileng.tan@dowjones.com)
